The simple ability to synchronise files is useful in itself, but Synkron makes it easy to configure advanced rules to determine precisely what is included in the synchronisation task - you could opt to ignore files that are stored in a particular sub-folder, or choose to synchronise only files of a certain type for example. The program is a cross-platform tool which can be used to synchronise the contents of pairs of folders either manually or on a schedule. The tools needed to perform synchronisation tasks are often difficult to use or lacking key features - the same cannot be said of Synkron. Keeping folders synchronised is a simple way to backup data to protect against hard drive failure, accidental file deletion or other disaster.
